Artist of the Day: Emalkay

With initial support in the form of grime veteran Plastician, he gained the attention of Boka Records with the warped, future bass drones and epic strings of Gut Feeling. Continuing the success, Testing The Waters EP was released in October 06 followed by Monsters.

The revolutionary sound of Mecha, released in the fall of 2007, gained Emalkay support from the likes of Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs and breakbeat pioneer FreQ Nasty, as well as many of the leading figures of the current dubstep scene. It seemed Emalkay’s own potential as a pivotal dubstep artist was finally being realised.

Skrillex Radio Show: The Mothership!

This weekend, the electro / dubstep sensation, Skrillex, debuted his new radio show, ‘The Mothership,’ on Sirius XM’s ‘Electric Area’ (channel 52). During the two hour premier, Skrillex opened with his immensely popular remix of Benny Benassi’s “Cinema,” then mixed some monster dubstep and electro house tracks like Madeon’s remix of the mau5′s “Raise Your Weapon,” Feed Me’s “Grand Theft Ecstasy,” and Doctor P’s “Sweet Shop.” He closed out the two hour mix with his own track, “Rock N’ Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain.

A number of trance and house DJs have already tapped into international radio shows to increase the popularity of their music and their particular genres, so it’s great to see dubstep and electro producers following suit. Dubstep and electro house are on the rise, and new radio shows like ‘The Mothership’ are igniting this phenomenon. Make sure to catch the next edition of ‘The Mothership’ on Saturday morning at 1 a.m. EST.

Artist of the Day: Cookie Monsta

From a very early age Cookie Monsta was always into music. From around 11 years old a PlayStation game called "Music 200" caught his eye and that's where it all began. He would play on this game making loops, playing on it for ages. Then around 17 he had as many music games he could find, but he wanted more. Cookie Monsta never really knew about music production and came from a group of friends that were not into that sort of thing. When he applied at college he was frowned upon for doing this simply because people thought music was pointless to study.
He first opened up Reason 3 in September 2007 and the first ever Dubstep tune he heard was Midnight Request by Skream. Then hearing all the upbeat and darker side of Dubstep made Cookie Monsta get into it completely and ever since then he has been expanding his knowledge of Reason 4 by religiously using it as much as he could. A lot of people ask him for tips and tricks for producing but the best bit of advice, according to him is, "If you're passionate about making music and you know you want to make music then knuckle down and stay on it. If people doubt you carry on, no matter how bad things get. Music isn’t my hobby, it’s my life."

Artist of the Day: Dirtyphonics

Dirtyphonics is a French electronic music band composed of Pho, Playte, Capskod, and Pitch-In. Dirtyphonics are well known for their innovative production style and live performances. Dirtyphonics have developed an original live act, whilst continuing to resist the cliché concept of a typical DnB live show.

Hosted by MC Youthstar, their energetic act incorporates turntables, MPC’s, filters, effects and even a GameBoy. In addition to the live act, Dirtyphonics showcase their tunes with regular, explosive DJ sets, often using 4 turntables, back to back with Playte and Pitch In.
